AURORA, IL – Authorities have released the identity of one of the young women killed in a wrong-way collision on I-88 on Sunday.
ABC 7 reports that Sariyah Watson, 21, was the driver of a vehicle that was struck by another motorist who had been driving east in the interstate’s westbound lanes. She and her 21-year-old female passenger were killed in the crash, as was the 32-year-old woman driving the other vehicle.
Watson was a sprinter on the University of Illinois Chicago’s track team. Her relatives say she was on her way to DeKalb to visit her mother for Mothers Day.
Watson was majoring in sports management and had been planning to return to a program helping at-risk youth in Seattle this summer.
Authorities have not yet released the names of either of the other parties at this time.
