Teen cited after two-vehicle crash north of Sandwich injures both drivers

SANDWICH, IL – A two-vehicle crash north of Sandwich on April 2 left both drivers with minor injuries and one with a citation for failure to yield.

According to a WSPY report, officers from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash just after 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Chicago Road and West Sandwich Road, according to the.

Investigators said the 16-year-old Waterman driver of a Ford Edge was headed north on West Sandwich Road and entered the intersection with Chicago Road without yielding to an eastbound GMC Acadia. The Acadia’s driver, a 42-year-old DeKalb resident, tried to brake but could not avoid the crash.

Emergency crews took both drivers to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Authorities issued the 16-year-old a citation for failing to yield at a stop sign.
