PIERCE TWSP, IL – Three people were injured north of Hinckley last Wednesday when the driver of a Hyundai Kona hit a trailer that was being towed by a Chevrolet pickup truck.

Shaw Local reports that the crash happened at the intersection of Somonauk Road and McGirr Road at an unspecified time on March 25, 2026.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, the Hyundai crossed the median from the northbound lanes of Somonauk Road and collided with the southbound trailer. The collision sent the Hyundai into a roadside ditch, where it overturned.

Both occupants of the pickup were transported to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb with minor injuries. They have been identified only as Maple Park residents, both aged 68.

The Hyundai’s driver, a 57-year-old resident of Sandwich, also suffered unspecified injuries. The DCSO cited him for failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
