NEAR HICKLEY, IL – A 74-year-old man from Montgomery was injured following a single-motorcycle crash during Wednesday’s thunderstorms.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office told ShawLocal that the 74-year-old man, who was riding a 2006 red Harley Davidson motorcycle, came across a fallen tree blocking U.S. 30. As he tried to avoid hitting it, that’s when he crashed his bike.

The man sustained minor injuries and did not need to go to the hospital. However, he declined medical treatment at the scene from paramedics. He was able to ride his motorcycle away from the crash scene, deputies confirmed.

The severe thunderstorms occurred all throughout Northern Illinois, including DeKalb County, and also left over 400 DeKalb County residents without power.
