KIRKLAND, IL – A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with DUI after a three-vehicle crash that happened last Friday, June 5.

The collision occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Cherry Valley Road, north of Stone Quarry Road, on the outskirts of Kirland, WIFR reports.

The 20-year-old man, identified as Issac Muhasha from Moline, drove north on Cherry Valley when he drifted into the southbound lane and crashed his SUV head-on into a BMW SUV.

The BMW spun out of control before striking a northbound Chevy Trailblazer, traveling behind Muhasha.

DeKalb County deputies said airbags were deployed from all vehicles, and the severity of the crash left the BMW driver and passenger with serious injuries.

EMS crews transported the BMW occupants to OSF Hospital in Rockford. At the same time, deputies arrested Muhasha and transported him to DeKalb County Jail.

Muhasha was later released.

Deputies reported no injuries for Muhasha or for the Chevy driver/passengers.

Deputies did not say why Muhasha was released or provide additional commentary with respect to the crash.
