ELMHURST, IL – A driver was injured on Tuesday when a 17-year-old hit their SUV while speeding through an intersection in an attempt to evade police.
Fox 32 reports that at about 7:15 p.m. that evening, police noticed a black BMW speeding and weaving through traffic on Route 83. They attempted to pull over the BMW at the intersection with St. Charles Road, but the driver sped off. The BMW ran through a red light at Riverside Drive, where it hit a Toyota RAV4 in the intersection.
The driver of the Toyota suffered a broken leg due to the collision. We do not know this person’s identity or their current condition.
Police arrested the BMW’s driver and discovered that he was in possession of a 9mm pistol without a serial number, as well as an extended magazine with 24 9mm rounds.
The driver, identified only as a 17-year-old male resident of Mount Prospect, is facing unspecified charges in relation to the incident. His next court appearance will take place on April 2.
