PLAINFIELD, IL – Police issued citations to a driver who plowed into three other vehicles that were stopped at a steady red light at Route 59 and 135th Street last Tuesday.

According to Patch, police say that the accident occurred at 3:15 p.m. on March 24, 2026. The driver of a Hyundai Tucson failed to slow their vehicle as they approached a red light, causing them to collide with a Hyundai Elantra. The Elantra caromed into a Ford Escape, while the Tucson rolled onto its side and crashed into a Ram 2500.

Emergency responders pulled the Tucson’s driver from the vehicle and treated her for minor injuries at the scene. She declined transport to a medical facility and has been identified only as a 37-year-old woman from Chicago.

No one else appears to have been injured, although the Tucson and the Elantra both had to be transported from the scene.

Police cited the Tucson’s driver for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
