Officials close Route 20 near Elgin due to two-vehicle crash

NEAR ELGIN, IL – Officials had to shut down Route 20 around 3:30 p.m. on Monday due to a two-vehicle crash. 

According to ShawLocal, the collision occurred west of Elgin and near Pine Grove, and closures were enforced along Plank and Russell Roads and towards Highland West Boulevard. 

During the shutdowns, drivers were urged to proceed with caution as crews cleaned up debris from the crash, removed the vehicles, worked to restore safe road conditions, and conducted an investigation. 

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office was among the first responders at the scene. At this time, they have not stated the number of people involved or reported any injuries. 

Authorities are actively working to determine the cause of the crash.
